Accessibility of the HRIRC
In developing the Human Rights Impact Resource Centre (HRIRC) great care was taken to guarantee accessibility of the website. To guarantee optimal accessibility there are a great number of criteria to take into account. Two important points are 'Font and fontsize' and 'Correct use of HTML'.
- Font and fontsize
The font used in the HRIRC is Verdana. This font is especially designed to guarantee that content on webpages can be read. The normal size for the font- using screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels- is 11 pt. If this size is too small, you can change it to 'Bigger' by going to 'View' in your Internet Explorer webbrowser. For Safari on Mac you find the option under 'Make Text Bigger/Smaller'. For Firefox on Win/Mac you find the option under 'Text Size'.
- Correct use of HTML
The website is validated by the Markup Validation Service of the W3C Consortium. See: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.humanrightsimpact.org%2F. This means the HTML language used in the site is correct and can be read without any problem by search engines.
NOTE: Many documents you find in the HRIRC can be viewed directly from their online source. Those documents might not always be designed in the way described above.
