CARE Impact Guidelines

The Guidelines, which provide a core set of principles for how impact is to be measured within CARE, are built upon the lessons learned from nine case studies which are included in this document. The Guidelines provide a common methodology and a set of indicators that the organisation can use to target, promote and document positive impact on Household Livelihood Security, which is the core framework used by CARE.

The case studies, carried out by the Impact Evaluation Initiative, review nine projects carried out by various CARE country offices. They document the projects' efforts to achieve and measure impact. They include reviews of the logframes and M&E systems used and result in various 'lessons learned'.

Just as the Guidelines, the case studies are focused on CARE's objectives and are not concerned with measuring impact on human rights as such (although they work in related areas).
