The impact of the agreement on trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights on human rights
This study of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights analyses in general terms the impact that the WTO TRIPS agreement has on the enjoyment of human rights, in particular how it affects the promotion and protection of the right to health. It analyses the TRIPS agreement from a human rights perspective and examines to what extent the TRIPS agreement is consistent with a human rights approach. It is also examined how national implementation of the TRIPS agreement can influence the enjoyment of the right to health, which is demonstrated by a case study on HIV treatment in Brazil.
