Children's rights impact assessment: the SCCYP model
Model for children's rights impact assessment, which was developed by SCCYP for internal as well as external use. The instrument provides a means to assess the impact of decisions, policies and legislation on children’s rights. This will enable users to predict, monitor and if necessary, avoid or mitigate these impacts.
The instrument contains an initial screening assessment and an eight-stage full impact assessment. It provides step-by-step forms to carry out these processes. The model allows for assessing decisions, policies and legislation for their compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and related jurisprudence and Concluding Observations, as well as in the wider context of relevant national, European and international law and policies.
The SCCYP model is flexible and can be adapted to suit users' own needs.
