Conference and Symposium on Child Indicators and Child Inclusive Research

Conference entitled Counting Children In! Child indicators: Research, Theory, Policy and Practice being held by the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI).

In November 2009 a conference, Counting Children In! Child indicators: Research, Theory, Policy and Practice, will be held by the International Society for Child Indicators (ISCI).

The conference covers several different themes:

-          Theoretical, conceptual and empirical issues in the development of child indicators.

-          Measurement issues at levels of individual, family, community and globally.

-          Diversity as a challenge to the construction and implementation of indicators.

During the conference several different experts on Child Indicators will be present. There will be contributed paper streams and opportunities for dialogue and networking.

Preliminary to the conference a symposium will be held on 3rd November by the Social Justice Social Change Research Centre (UWS). This symposium will be about “Children as experts in their own lives: Child Inclusive Research”.  Children and adult policymakers and academics will talk about the topic of child research. This happens in plenary and panel sessions and in contributed papers.

Both the conference and the symposium will be held at the University of Western Sydney.

The symposium and conference are in the preliminary stages and more information will be available in the coming months.
