Minority Rights, Indigenous Peoples and International Law

“Minority rights, indigenous peoples and international law”, is an introduction course on the protection of minority rights under international law.

Participants can explore the norms and institutions for the protection of minorities and indigenous peoples. It is a distance learning project from the HREA.

The course outlines the conceptual, political and legal questions from the protection of minorities, as well as the struggle over the definition of minorities.

The course is based on case studies from various regions of the world. This gives the opportunity to analyse the contribution to the development of minority rights and the rights of indigenous peoples which have been made by a range of international organisations and bodies. The case studies will also allow course participants to develop skills in accessing and analysing "jurisprudence" on minority rights.

The course is aimed at practitioners and professionals who want to gain knowledge in the field of the minority rights and rights of indigenous peoples, university students of international law, international relations, politics and NGO staff members.

The course is open for application till 1 September. For more information about the course and online application, click here
