The Maastricht Guidelines have also been acknowledged by the United Nations and published as an official UN Document with the reference: E/C.12/2000/13.

The Guidelines can be found in numerous places. There is a non-electronic version, but on the website of the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (publisher of the Guidelines) the publication can be viewed electronically. The seperate chapters are PDF files.

Through the University of Minnesota Human Rights Library the Guidelines are also available in Spanish.

Written at the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Limburg Principles, the Guidelines present the nature and scope of violations of economic, social and cultural rights. In addition they propose responses and remedies and highlight international legal principles relevant to esc rights.

The Guidelines are a useful tool in structuring a baseline study of the human rights situation in a particular country.
