HRIA Case Study: Equality and human rights impact assessment
- Guidance about compliance
Author(s): Care Quality Commission
Publisher: 2009, Care Quality Commission
The guidance document sets out how providers of health and adult social care services can demonstrate their compliance with regulations made under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated Acts, and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009.
From April 2010, health and adult social care providers will be required to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in order to be able to operate. To do so, they must show that they are meeting a wide range of essential standards of safety and quality set out under the regulations. By law, the CQC are required to produce guidance about compliance that makes it clear to providers what they must do to comply with the essential standards of safety and quality. The guidance is focused on what constitutes a quality experience for people who use services.
The guidance is for providers and managers of health and social care services. It relates to services that are provided to meet the needs of adults using social care and adults and children using healthcare services. It may also be of interest to people who use the services of a registered provider, CQC’s staff, commissioners of services, other regulators, courts and tribunals, members of parliament and the general public.
This equality impact assessment considers the impact of the proposed guidance only. It does not assess the equality impact of the regulations themselves.
