Toolset: Business Guide for Conflict Impact Assessment and Risk Management

Developer: UN Global Compact

Practical guide that companies can use to assess and manage risk in conflict and conflict-prone contexts. The guide aims to aid companies in developing strategies that minimize the negative effects and maximize the positive effects of investing in areas of (potential) conflict, in order to contribute to conflict prevention and a sustainable business environment in the countries where they operate.

The guide develops a new type of risk assessment and management that goed beyond existing types. It assists companies in developing conflict impact risk strategies at two stages: the pre-investment and pre-operational stage, and the operational stage. The guide deals with

- an introduction to risk assessment and management questions and decisions
- stakeholder analysis
- impact assessments in the areas of human rights, international humanitarian law, labour and environment
