One of the main purposes of the Human Rights Impact Assessment Tools such as HeRWAI, DOVA and Anti-Trafficking are to enhance lobbying activities of NGO's and individuals for better implementation of women's human rights. The outcomes of the analyses of the tools can be used to lobby international institutions. However, we recognize the difficulties that one can encounter when promoting and protecting human rights issues on an international level. Communication and cooperation with the largest international organization, the United Nations, can often create confusion and difficulties due to its complex structure and many different bodies and mechanisms.

The Human Rights Impact Assessment Tools largely draw from international treaties and agreements that were established with and/or by the United Nations. In order to put a Human Rights Impact Assessment Tool to its greatest use, communication, lobbying and interaction with the United Nations is highly recommended.

The sources and resources that have been used by the Tools can be found here. Here you can find more specific guidance and information on how to successfully work with the specific United Nations bodies, mechanisms and working groups. This will improve and simplify your lobby activities and strengthen your work on an international level.

In the menu you can find the different sources and resources for the different Tools as well as additional information. For a more general introduction to the United Nations Human Rights Programme click here.
