Measuring the level, pattern and sequence of government respect for physical integrity rights
In this paper a measure of government respect (as opposed to violations) for particular physical integrity rights (extrajudicial killings, disappearances, political imprisonment and torture) is created, using Mokken Scaling Analysis. This leads to a cumulative scaling technique on disaggregated information about government respect for particular physical integrity rights. The measure provides information about the level, pattern and sequence of government respect for physical integrity rights and uses data from the State Department Country Reports and Amnesty International annual reports.
