In September the Association of Human Rights will hold a conference in which it will launch a four-year network programme about the role of the EU in UN Human rights reform.
On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September the annual Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) conference will be held at the University of Nottingham. This conference will launch a four-year network programme “the role of the EU in UN Human rights Reform.”
This network program is launched to increase and consolidate knowledge of the UN human rights system. This must help to give recommendation standpoints to the EU. This process will help in strengthening the protection of human rights world-wide.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Mary Robinson, President Realising Rights and Co-chair of the Swiss initiative Protecting Dignity – An Agenda for Human Rights, former President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
- Irene Kahn, Secretary General of Amnesty International
- Trevor Phillips, Chair, Equality and Human Rights Commission
- Marcia Kran, Director of the Research and Right to Development Division, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (representing the High Commissioner)
- Ambassador Jan Nordlander, Swedish Presidency of the European Union
- Ambassador Rudolf Knoblauch, Special Envoy for Human Rights Issues of the Swiss Government
