A new course from Human Rights Education Associates (HREA).

Monitoring Children’s Rights is a new course by Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) that will start in September 2009. This course is a basic introduction to measuring and monitoring the status of children, including basic health and welfare, education, civil rights and freedoms, and special protection measures. This course includes tool development, methodologies to do monitoring and the application of results. Besides theoretical study there will also be case study material to see the theoretical work in practice.

This course is intended for human rights/child rights staff of NGOs, intergovernmental and government agencies, children’s advocated and child-related professions. The course instructor is Felisa Tibbitts. She is executive director of Human Rights Education Associates (HREA). She has facilitated numerous workshops on the rights of the child.

Human Rights Education Associates (HREA) provides distant learning courses. These learning courses are especially designed for human rights and development workers. The courses are web-based, but are also available true email

The course starts on 16 September 2009, and is offered over a 10-week period. The course involves approximately 50 hours of reading, on-line working groups, assignments and interaction among students and the instructor. The maximum number of course participants is 25. The application deadline is 15 June 2009.
